Daniel Wu, general manager of Tencent Games Smart Solution Innovation Lab, said: “Today marks the beginning of a new opportunity for our company to push the gaming device frontier even further.”
Together, Tencent and Logitech G want to create a handheld console that “fulfills the exciting promise of gaming from the cloud.” By leveraging his Logitech G experience in building PC and console gaming gear, the partnership between the two companies harnesses the power of cloud gaming no-install technology to deliver AAA games, regardless of which service players use. We aim to put it in the hands of the player.
Logitech G General Manager Ujesh Desai said: “As someone who grew up playing video games, the idea of being able to stream and play AAA games anywhere is really exciting and I can’t wait to show you what we’ve been working on. “
One thing is certain. We are seeing games waging the same gold rush style competition that TV and movies did with streaming services. Microsoft and Samsung just recently announced a partnership that will allow access to Xbox Cloud Gaming directly from the dashboard of 2022 Samsung TVs. Microsoft said earlier this week that Xbox Cloud Gaming grew 1,800% last year, so it makes sense that more companies would jump at the chance to join the technology’s benefits.
