Turbo Golf Racing stormed the fairway into Xbox Game Previews this week, offering a turbocharged experience for up to eight players on Xbox Series X|S, Xbox One, PC, and Xbox Game Pass. Here are our first impressions.
Hugecalf Studios and Secret Mode released Turbo Golf Racing this week. It currently offers a pretty barebones experience for an Xbox Game Preview title, but there must be a little bit of magic in the code. under. I had the opportunity to play the game’s solo mode shortly before launch. As much as it provided a fair amount of entertainment, it was the game’s multiplayer he chaos that got me hooked, and so did my his 6-year-old son. If you have an Xbox Game Pass subscription and enjoy Rocket League and the like, this might be worth your time.
Turbo Golf Racing Game Preview Launch Trailer
As soon as you start the game, you’ll be greeted with visuals and a soundtrack that comfortably serve as a side mode for Psyonix’s Rocket League. It’s colorful, the music isn’t my cup of tea, as you know by now, but it’s energetic and fun, and the simple menu makes it easy to navigate without cluttering the screen. , it’s the simplicity of Turbo Golf Racing that has led me to spend a fair amount of time on the fairway with my son, extending far beyond the game’s main menu.
Currently, there are only two modes that can be played: solo and multiplayer. Solo works as a time trial and challenge mode where you get the ball through the vortex-like hole in the fastest possible way to earn a one to three star rating. The fairway winds across a variety of themed maps from the start to the end hole. It provides sandbanks and woodlands, the usual golf-related hazards to slow down rolls, and out-of-bounds areas on both sides. Of a fairway that drops you into the abyss of nothingness – before, of course, throwing you back into the fairway…it’s not a bad fairway. Along the way, you can use boosting strips reminiscent of Mario Kart, floating circular launch pads, and other fun ways to make the ride more fun than actual golf. Plus, your car has special abilities, turbos, and gliding wings, so there’s that too.
But to truly experience Turbo Golf Racing, you have to venture into multiplayer. The match can take up to eight players and he consists of three rounds, with each round rewarding points according to how quickly he was able to get the ball into the hole before anyone else. The winner of the match is, you guessed it, the player with the most points at the end of the three rounds. Multiplayer Fairway traversal works much the same as the single player portion of the game, but multiplayer can fire rockets to slow down other players, or defensive shields to block such callous actions. Add or add fun too.
A bright feature of multiplayer mode is that the entire match is contactless, with the exception of rockets that can be launched at other players. You may not lunge, hit the ball, or engage in any other hostile action. I love the idea. It gives me the opportunity to do exactly what I feel I need to do without adding to the worries of potential griefers. Games, it’s easy for them to enjoy with you. The controls are also simplified, requiring extra thought to do just the boost, jump, special ability, and rocket buttons. It’s really easy to jump in, and after playing the first few games, I found it pretty hard to quit.
Complete matches to earn Gears, Turbo Golf Racing’s in-game currency. This can be used in the shop for various exterior upgrades to your vehicle, such as body styles, spoilers, turbo colors, and more. Winning matches also grants trophies that can be used on higher quality cosmetic items as an added bonus to your gear. Like all current live service games there are season passes, but they are all currently free and no paid tracks were mentioned at the time of writing. Provided. As an additional challenge, you can complete some objectives to unlock upgrades called power cores for your vehicle. This acts as a permanent bonus that allows you to expand your ball. Give them abilities like bouncing, extra jumps, magnets to attract balls, and other wacky ways to enhance the experience.
My current feeling for Turbo Golf Racing is fun, accessible, and hard to quit. How long this feels like is up to Hugecalf Studios, who have said the game will be in preview status for about 12 months, and look forward to updating a lot of content in the process. , my only gripe, is that it’s pretty rare to see a preview title that offers a list anyway, and one style of multiplayer currently offers a very enjoyable experience, but stagnates over time. Either way, I highly recommend jumping in and giving this fresh little game a try. Even with the lack of achievement support, it’s blasphemous to say.
