Xbox Live launched on November 15, 2002, adding online functionality to the original Xbox one year after its launch. Now, the service is still going strong after his 20 years, and he’s now four consoles. Longtime subscribers get a badge on their profile to celebrate it.
When Xbox Live launched in 2002, Xbox was the first company to bring online play to consoles, using the Ethernet port built into Xbox consoles. Online services gained a lot of popularity on the back of the success of Halo 2, and Xbox Live peaked at around 20 million users in the first generation of consoles.

Xbox Live is now technically known by a different name, and “Xbox Network” is intended as an umbrella term for all of the company’s online services, including Game Pass and Xbox Live Gold. . Shortly before this rebranding, Microsoft announced that Xbox Live surpassed his 100 million monthly active users following the release of Series X|S.
Despite the official rebranding, most fans still call the service Xbox Live, and that hasn’t stopped Xbox from celebrating its 20th anniversary. As Xbox major Nelson announced on his Twitter, long-time users of the platform will be rewarded with his 20th anniversary badge shining on his profile.
