“The Legend of Zelda: Kingdom of Tears” has recently had several ways to trick items, and that’s the basis. With these you can collect a lot of materials and weapons. Still, even faster techniques exist. This is a guide to help you with the Shield Surf exploit for the very easy Tears of Zelda item duplication method.
How to trick the Shield Surf item in The Legend of Zelda: Kingdom of Tears
A well-known method of cheating items in The Legend of Zelda: Kingdom of Tears involves attaching an arrow, dropping the bow, and quickly pressing the pause button twice. This can be hit or miss for some and definitely a source of frustration for others. Thankfully, a quick and easy method was recently discovered.
I’m not sure who the player first discovered this method, but I found the video courtesy of: YouTuber Piven.
The Legend of Zelda Tears of the Kingdom How to duplicate items using Shield Surf
Here’s what you’ll need for The Kingdom of Zelda Tears item replication method using Shield Surf:
- Equipped with a shield, of course.
- Have (at least one) the item you want to make a copy of.
- Have another item you only have one. For reference this is called a “solo item”.
- Make sure the item you want to trick is in the bottom/last slot of your material inventory. To do this, drop all the items and pick them up again. However, if more than 20 items are scattered on the ground, some items will disappear, so be careful.
- When you’re ready, head out to Shield Surf. To do this, hold down ZL and press X to jump, then press A.
- In the middle of the Shield Surf animation, open the material inventory. Next, pick up the “solo item” and the actual item you want to duplicate.
- Items will drop when you land on the ground. However, when I check the inventory, the original I had before is still there.
This is currently the fastest item duplication method in Zelda Tears of the Kingdom. No more worrying about dropping your bow or pausing/unpausing too quickly. Similarly, you can get multiple copies in one action.
However, there are some caveats. Here are some tips to consider.
- As mentioned earlier, if there are too many items on the ground, some items will disappear. Be sure to pick up the deceived items to avoid accidents.
- If you want to speed things up a bit, don’t pick up the ‘solo item’ you’re using for this trick until you’ve completed the ‘duplicate batch’. Otherwise, you’ll have to drop the duplicated material multiple times to force it back to the bottom of the inventory tab.
- Shield surfing loses shield durability. It’s a good idea to equip a single-use, decayed variant so that you don’t waste the variants you need in battle. Alternatively, fuse two Hylian Shields together.
- This exploit works with almost any material. Here are some examples.
- Diamonds and other gemstones can sell for high rupees.
- A large Zonite can be converted into a large crystallization charge for energy cell upgrades.
- You can’t do this with Zonaite Devices (it’s part of a separate inventory tab), but this duck works with big Zonaite Charges. You can place these in your device dispenser to get the tools you need.
- Silver Lynel materials and other enemy drops can be fused into weapons and shields.
- Upgrades require Star Shards and other rare resources.
- Avoid: Insects, fairies, lizards – they fly or run away.
Either way, there may be other ways to trick The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom items waiting to be discovered.
