For the gaming community, nothing pleases them more than finding a “cursed copy” of their favorite childhood game, or visiting a secret world within the game world.

The Mario series has been the source of many myths and secrets, such as the mystery of Paper Mario’s serial code and the elusive Minus World.

There are several other stories, with varying levels of truth in them. Some are examples of the Mandela Effect, others have been confirmed by Nintendo, and others are downright false.

So here are eight of our favorite Mario urban legends. From the sublime to the utterly false to the absurd…

Mario Myth #1 – Mario characters are actors (franchise-wide)

First, one popular theory is that all Mario characters are actually actors in the play.

This makes sense. There are some things in some games that visually agree with this idea. Super Mario Bros. 3 looks like a play, with props bolted to the background and theater curtains opening during the introduction.

Also, why would Bowser try to stop Mario’s path during a Super Mario Bros. stage, but be perfectly happy playing tennis with him?

really? Yes, this theory has been confirmed by Nintendo. In an interview in 2012 game informer, Shigeru Miyamoto said he sees Mario characters as a big family, or “a troupe of actors”.He later admitted that the whole (Super Mario) world was the stage. on Twitter.

Mario Mythology #2 – The Appearance of Wario (Super Mario 64)

An interesting myth of Super Mario 64 is that there is AI in the game, personalizing each copy for each player.this is can’t believe it Look at this feature and you’ll see where this goes.

Wario Kaiki was born from this myth. Legend has it that if you see the white-eyed chomp and manage to pass through the door that leads to the Dire Dire Docks, the ghost of Wario will appear and start chasing you. Some people even believe that seeing Wario’s appearance can cause bodily harm.

really? Great story, but nothing more.

The image above is one of the images often seen with Stories and is taken from below. Video used in E3 presentation There are also other images and videos related to this story (and even soundtrack) but they are all of dubious origin.

Mario Myth #3 – Anti-Piracy Screen (Old Mario Games)

“I do not serve criminals.”

This one is a bit more extensive, but if you’ve ever explored the online creepypasta forums, you may have come across some weird anti-piracy screens that you might see in older video games. .

Are these real? Games can certainly contain interesting anti-piracy screens, but the majority of the popular creepy anti-piracy screens are fake. This is from Mario Party DS.

In fact, there is a whole subculture online dedicated to creating these screens.you will find a lot on reddit. The creators of these anti-piracy screens are incredibly talented editors, but most of the time these screens don’t appear in any Mario game.

Mario Myth #4 – Dolly Eating Mario (Super Mario 64)

It would have been impossible to read through this list without the examples below. mandela effect.

Dolly is a plesiosaur that appears in Hazy Maze’s cave in Super Mario 64, and has many fans. claim to In the original game, Dolly could eat Mario.

really? This is not true, but the idea probably came from a nearby signpost warning the player not to get too close as it could be Dolly’s lunch. There is also a small chance that Mario will malfunction his character model and take damage or even drown.

there is teeth It is a creature that eats Mario, but it is a kind of giant fish called Mario. baba.

Mario Mythology #5 – Skytree Creatures in Hell Valley (Super Mario Galaxy 2)

Some Mario theories are lighthearted and fun, and some are just plain creepy.

This is more of an unsolved mystery than a legend. What’s the problem that is Creatures in the Hell Valley Skytree in Super Mario Galaxy 2? In the Shiverburn and Grandmaster galaxies, you’ll see creepy creatures looming above the zone’s upper stage.

In the Shiverburn Galaxy in Super Mario Galaxy 2, when you use the first-person perspective and look up at a cliff, you’ll find three figures in the background of the galaxy.

and! ? I checked the game files and found Girrtacos managed to find some images. There are technically four creatures, but one is hidden on a cliff. The name “Jigokudani Skytree” Creatures comes from the file name.

There is no clear description of these creatures. Fans have hypothesized about them to this day, with some players thinking they were part of the Disposal Zone and others claiming they were demons based on their filenames. increase.

Mario Myth #6 – Luigi and the Hunter Ghost (Luigi’s Mansion)

One of the popular myths about the original Luigi’s Mansion is that the Safari Room was originally intended to be a zone for a portrait ghost called Hunter. This eerie ghost is said to have wanted to add Luigi to his taxidermy collection. Some fans argue that they remember Seeing the hunter’s ghost, he described him as blue with a mustache, holding a rifle, and wearing a safari cap and vest.

really? Ghosts of hunters do not actually exist in any version of the game.

What is the origin of this myth? Nintendo Power Magazine first wrote about portrait ghosts. The issue was published a month after the game was released in Japan, and the reference to Hunter was later said to be a joke.

Mario Myth #7 – Toad Kingdom Residents Turned into Items (Super Mario Bros.)

One of the oldest theories about Super Mario Bros. is that item bricks and other inanimate objects are actually transformed inhabitants of the Toad Kingdom.

The origin of this theory is the original game manual. It says, “Mushroom people were turned into mere stones, bricks, and even horsehair plants in the fields.” Because of this, many fans wondered if Mario killed the Mushroom Man when breaking blocks.

really? Thankfully, page 8 of the same manual states that it’s just a usable but unbreakable item brick. Life and death crisis averted!

Mario Myth #8 – Mario Sunshine’s Mystery Book (Mario Sunshine)

Many video game myths stem from discarded content.

While playing Super Mario Sunshine’s “Red Coin in a Bottle” mission, several hackers discovered a strange book behind a door that could not be opened during normal gameplay. This book cannot be operated, turned out to be Part of the game level geometry.

But it’s incredibly out of place.you can see the book with your own eyes via noclipor watch the video below for the exact location in-game.

what is it for? none. Many believe the book was part of a deleted quest.

The Noki Bay book was also the subject of a possible hoax that originated on the now-defunct IGN message board, later disproved by players using the noclip method. can can be reached and read. It is said that Shigeru Miyamoto himself conveyed the message that the players had no life. Wow.
