Sailing over the rusted and ruined skyscrapers of a post-apocalyptic Earth with a customizable airship base is an appealing idea, with a demo of survival game Forever Skies making a splash at October’s Steam Next Fest. That’s why they won. According to developer Far From Home, over 80,000 players have built futuristic airships, gathered resources, crafted gear, Went fishing for giant mutated moths In the toxic dust clouds that cover the Earth.
If you’re looking to dive deeper into that ravaged world this year, you’ll have to wait a little longer. has announced that it has been pushed back to the first half of 2023.
It’s not because people didn’t like the demo, it’s the opposite. Players “provided a lot of positive and constructive feedback” the developer says (opens in new tab), note that 83% of players rated the demo above 8/10. “We have now decided to incorporate much of this feedback and expand the range of games that launch in Early Access.”
Far From Home outlined some of the plans for the expanded game, including a portion of the world under Toxic Dust that can be seen in the newly released screenshots. The division was supposed to be added after the release of Early Access, but feedback and questions about what happens under the dust have led us to believe that we need to implement some basics under the dust from the beginning. I did.”
There are also plans to increase the variety of skyscraper locations and add an airship damage and repair system that was intentionally left out of the demo. It’s meant to be a threat, but what we’re currently developing still needs work, so we’ve decided to leave it out of the demo entirely, and a lot of players have taken note of this. It was an important element of what I was doing.”
Airship customization was also added before the launch of Early Access, and Far From Home released a new preview video to make it easier to see different configurations for the airship base.
We’re sorry for the delay, but on the plus side, the Early Access release seems to contain more than was originally planned, so players will likely be playing more of the game when it releases. In the meantime, Far From Home created Forever Skies. Demo available Once again (and adding some improvements), if you missed it the first time, you can watch it now.
