Today is Banner Day for Spidey fans! We’re excited to finally show you the first gameplay of Marvel’s Spider-Man 2, the next installment in the original Marvel’s Spider-Man series due out in Fall 2023. There’s a lot to reveal in today’s gameplay reveal. Let’s highlight some big points…
big hunt begins
As many sharp-eared Spidey fans noticed in the 2021 announcement trailer, Kraven the Hunter. This version debuted in Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 and is looking for an equivalent. That’s bad news for Marvel’s New York residents, including the rogue gallery of villains and Spider-Man, Peter Parker, and Miles Morales. Between the start of Kraven’s Great Hunt and an all-new symbiote threat to Earth-1048, our heroes are doing the job they deserve.
Gameplay Reveal Setting: A new enemy faction, the Craven’s Hunters, is after Dr. Kurt Connors the Lizard, and Peter must stop him. We start at Connors’ home across the East River in Queens, one of his all-new playable and explorable boroughs to be introduced in Marvel’s Spider-Man 2.
Let’s realize symbiosis
We waste no time. Coming through the basement door is Peter Parker, the original Spider-Man of the story. No explanation needed. But what he wears is probably admirable. He wears the highly coveted, iconic and beloved Black Suit and is more than ready to fight.
More than just looks, this symbiote-bound hero has some new tricks up his sleeve. We’re used to Spider-Man banging his head, but never like this time. He’s aggressive all the way through and his punches definitely don’t hit. The symbiote’s tentacles expand Spider-Man’s silhouette, slamming foes into hard surfaces and showing no mercy to Kraven’s hunters.
My advice: You’ll love the L1 button, so get comfortable with it.
This super-popular suit can terrify almost anyone who faces it, but Kraven is no stranger and his highly trained hunters fear no melee. please do not worry. New combat abilities allow you to neutralize new stubborn foes with a little bit of finesse. Fight back with aggressive parries to gain the upper hand, or set up water nests to divert enemies between difficult locations. You can also enable classic dodge to avoid danger, but don’t get too comfortable. Some attacks simply cannot be dodged and require a parry to dodge properly.
Our animators have worked to portray a more impulsive Peter Parker, fitting for his man-bound symbiote without sacrificing his combat delicacy. New takedowns bring even the toughest foes to their knees, and new combat animations push Spider-Man’s boundaries. I mean, did you see what Spider-Man did to this guy?

More miles per hour
Speaking of which, with Miles Morales returning in Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 and playing an important role in the story, the sequel will feature two playable Spider-Heroes instead of one. In this demo, Miles is in Harlem and obsessed with lizard tails. Speed is important in many ways.
First, let’s get a glimpse of the near-instantaneous switching between both playable Spider-Mans. And if that’s not enough, Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 offers a significant increase in traverse speed. Web Cue his wings so Spider-Man can deploy to move quickly and urgently across the city. After a short flight across the city, Miles tracks Connors inside the Harlem Fish Market. Apparently, Kraven’s hunters are attacking him, so it’s time to wipe them out.
In Marvel’s Spider-Man fashion, players can approach encounters with stealth, fists of fury, or both. Whichever approach you take, there are new gadgets and abilities that complement different playstyles. His one of the new gadgets we’re looking forward to is the Web Line. This is a new way to sneak around the environment and attack enemies. Throw the line at a few hunters and watch Spider-Man perform a dual takedown… Marvel’s Spider-Man first!
Like his previous mentors, Miles Morales also has several new abilities and gadgets at his disposal. On the gadget side, he showed off the Web Grabber, a new gadget that pulls enemies into isolated locations. This allows Miles to chain one of his new abilities, Thunderhis Burst, to unleash an electrifying Groundhis Pound against groups of enemies. We also got a glimpse of his Lightning ability, which chains a shocking range of effects to nearby enemies.
Between Peter’s new symbiote powers and Miles’ newfound blue bioelectric powers, each Spider-Man has a unique skill set that can be upgraded through an all-new individual skill tree. Our heroes share technology and train together, so we’ve also included a shared skill tree that provides parallel upgrades for both.
lizards live in the details
Our environment will activate your Spider-Man senses as Miles tracks the lizard in the fish market. Our world is richer, denser and packed with detail, from grain to improved textures. The lighting has also been upgraded, casting more dramatic shadows and reflections along walls and pipes. Spatial 3D audio, on the other hand, creates a unique soundscape around you. Additionally, the signature use of the DualSense wireless controller, including the brilliant use of different haptics and adaptive he triggers, enhances the immersion in Marvel’s Spider-Man 2.
Whether you’re sneaking through rooms or exploring city streets, Marvel’s New York comes to life in ways only available on the PlayStation 5 console.
let’s grow bigger together
Spider-Man must join forces to track down Lizard and battle hunters who want to capture him. Unfortunately for them, Kraven is well-equipped, with boats, air transports, and weapons eyeing the Lizard. The Great Hunt continues along the East River, one of his new areas you can traverse in Marvel’s Spider-Man 2, and the action is tense. Miles dismantles the trailing vehicle while Peter Parker leads the chase from a distance.
Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 allows you to seamlessly switch between both Spider-Man during different story moments. We want players to revel in iconic team-ups enhanced by signature setpiece moments and experience the story from their respective perspectives. spiderman.

After a long time, no combination of words can fully convey how excited we are to finally show you Marvel’s Spider-Man 2. We are delighted to have the first glimpse of what we have been working on over the years. And we hope you are as excited as we are.
