Isonozo Released on Xbox One and Xbox Series XIS! The underrated theater of World War I features 40 player battles for the Kingdom of Italy or the Austro-Hungarian Empire. All maps are based on historical offensives, with dynamic battles where one side attacks and the other defends.
Our release trailer showcases stunning alpine scenery and the fierce battle for Fort Corbin on the Asiago Plateau. It’s clear that Isonzo is something special.
historic offensive
The 6th Battle of the Isonzo includes a perilous river crossing, the ascent of Monte Sabotino, and street fighting in the city of Gorizia. The mappers and artists from the WW1 game series have done a great job of recreating these maps based on specific historical battles. For example, all locations in the trailer are based on the Battle of Monte Changeo.
Each offensive is a historical battle, with 1-3 maps depending on how long and to what extent the battle lasted. Cengio is the first map in Strafexpedition Offensive. This is a “punitive expedition” intended by Austria-Hungary to punish the Italians for abandoning their pre-war agreement to join the Central Powers.
Extensive research has been done to recreate key terrain features and ensure that everything from weapons and fortifications to characteristic mountain vegetation and sharp rocks are accurately modeled. Authenticity is sought from a variety of sources, such as period photographs and maps, to geographic data, museum visits, and war diaries.
class system
The third entry in the WW1 game series introduced a new class system. Isonzo players can now choose from his six classes: Officer, Engineer, Rifleman, Assault, Sniper, and Mountaineer.
Each class has its own uniform based on historical units (such as the Austro-Hungarian Sniper), distinct weapons, different equipment, and an important role to play.
For example, an officer calls a departmental resource and gives instructions to the team. Additionally, the Trench Whistle can be used to give orders to the player or spawn waves to temporarily zero his timer.
Engineers can build barbed wire, lay sandbags for defense, or quickly destroy attack obstacles to advance enemy lines.
This new look also comes with an extensive character customization system. The focus is on historical authenticity and an accurate depiction of the forces found on the front lines.
Selecting a class type gives you the option to select a uniform variant attached to that class. For example, the Italian Assault Class can wear the uniform of the Elite Arditi Shock Unit. In addition to this, players can choose mustaches, including the ‘Rennenkamp’, voted our community’s favorite WWII mustache (!), headgear, face, and facial accessory.
Additional cosmetics can be purchased from DLC packs that contain additional customization options based on specific themes. For example, the Alpine unit pack includes a white snow camouflage uniform for the Italians and a warm coat for the Austro-Hungarian class.
