Ubisoft has officially announced Assassin’s Creed Infinity, a new platform and hub for Assassin’s Creed games. It also revealed his first two games to be part of Infinity. One is a game that follows the life of a shinobi in feudal Japan, and his other is directed by Watch Dogs: Legion director Clint Hocking.

Revealed today as part of Ubisoft Forward’s Assassin’s Creed Showcase, Assassin’s Creed Vice President Executive Producer Marc-Alexis Côté explains: This will be the only gateway into the future of the Assassin’s Creed franchise for our fans. Infinity will be the hub that connects our diverse experiences and players in meaningful ways. ”

That hub is where a wide variety of games reside, apparently starting with Assassin’s Creed Codename Red, which Côté describes as “the next premium flagship title and the future of open-world RPG gaming.” It is set in feudal Japan, a historical period frequently requested from. A very short trailer showed the shinobi jumping onto a sloping roof and pulling out a hidden blade, but that’s all we’ve been shown so far.

Codename Red is being developed by Ubisoft Quebec under the leadership of Jonathan Dumont, Creative Director of Assassin’s Creed Odyssey and Immortals Fenyx Rising.

Côté also revealed a second game in development for the Infinity platform, Assassin’s Creed Codename Hexe. In development at Ubisoft Montreal and directed by Clint Hocking, director of Far Cry 2, Splinter Cell: Chaos Theory, and Watch Dogs: Legion. Côté described it as a “new flagship title” and “a completely different type of Assassin’s Creed his game”.

A trailer for Codename Hexe was shown, but it didn’t reveal anything about the setting or the main character. A triangular logo was shown hanging from a tree branch like a magical talisman. It is characterized by having Based on the eerie music used in the trailer, its imagery, and Hexe’s name (which means “witch” in German), could Assassin’s Creed be exploring the topic of witch-hunting? The Bamberg witch trials in the 1600s against the backdrop of the Thirty Years’ War seems like a reasonable guess for Hexe’s setting, but there are no official details from Ubisoft.

Codename Red and Hexe were the only two games officially announced for the new platform, but Côté also revealed that Infinity will bring multiplayer back to Assassin’s Creed. We’re really investigating how to bring the hub-connected, standalone multiplayer experience back into the Assassin’s Creed universe,” he said.

No further details were revealed, so it’s currently unclear whether Ubisoft plans to bring back the cat-and-mouse-style multiplayer mode from Assassin’s Creed’s Ezio years, something similar to Unity’s co-op missions, or both. Unknown. However, the use of the term “standalone” suggests that it exists separately from the flagship game that is also present in Infinity, similar to Warzone in Call of Duty. They are not expected until after 2023.
