Modding is one of PC gaming’s greatest pleasures. It’s also a pain in the neck, especially as you go back and tinker with old games so they can be enjoyed on a modern system. Our big take from playing Monster Hunter Stories 3: Twisted Reflection is that this spin-off series has come an incredibly long way. It’s gone from being a handheld RPG of relatively limited scope to being a big budget, borderline open world adventure packed with high quality cinematic storytelling. Combat is still turn-based, and progression still hinges on discovering, hatching, and training a range of monster companions.…

I get by with a little help from my friends.Someday, I’ll get back to reviewing games that aren’t roguelites, but I’m at least happy to say that Rotwood is a fun roguelite. It’s also one of the few multiplayer-focused games I enjoy playing in multiplayer, although solo play is perfectly cromulent as well. Rotwood is trying something different, and I appreciate that. In this Klei Entertainment joint, you create an adorable goblin-esque character called a “Hunter” and go out to free the world of the Rot–purple goo that corrupts otherwise benign creatures. Unlike so many roguelites, Rotwood is stage-based. The…

Death Stranding 2’s PC launch on Thursday may have been overshadowed just a bit by Crimson Desert, but as I wrote in my review, it’s a great game, whether you’re in it for the Hideo Kojima story or the delivery sim sandbox. Folks who especially love the latter, though, like PC Gamer’s Morgan Park, almost universally have the same complaint: it’s too easy. Though Death Stranding 2 lets you challenge yourself by making deliveries on foot, the vehicles, upgrades, and shared infrastructure from other players can trivialize making flawless deliveries. For the PC release Kojima Productions added a new difficult option…
