If you were excited to see Diablo 4’s battle pass platinum payout and spend that money buying cosmetics from the shop, you’ll experience some disappointment. Instead of offering a practical amount of premium currency, Blizzard went with a joke amount: 666 platinum. Oh, you cheeky demons! But the real joke is that 666 platinum is useless and not even enough to buy the cheapest item in the store.
Unsurprisingly, players are not impressed. people above subreddit There are many words to describe Blizzard (Cheers, game radar) And who can blame them for being stiff? “All Blizzard sells right now is nostalgia,” wrote one player. And there are a lot of comparisons made between Diablo 4 and Diablo Immortal.
While I have a lot of issues with the broader Battle Pass model, many of them justify its existence and its cost by giving you enough currency to make small purchases or buy your next Battle Pass. If you take the time to complete them, you’ll get your money’s worth and save money down the road. However, that’s not the case here, and 666 Platinum isn’t enough to cover the cost of Season 2’s Battle Pass.
As it stands, the only real use for it is to buy Battle Pass tiers to speed up your truck journey, unless you want to earn more in the second season and save your platinum for later purchases.
Another issue is that Smoldering Ashes, the currency that unlocks seasonal bonuses, including XP buffs, are level gated. Even if you unlock some of this currency with your pass, you won’t be able to actually use it to select seasonal bonuses until you reach the required level. So, for example, if you want the Urn of Progression, which is an XP boost, you’ll have to wait until you reach 62, completely defeating the purpose of the XP boost. It seems impossible to escape the predicament. Some of the Seasonal Objectives also seem to have a bug where they are not recognized as completed and are not rewarded.
Diablo 4 is not a free-to-play game that uses microtransactions to make ends meet. It’s a very stingy and very popular premium game. At least this made packing a little easier after finally unlocking the horse.
