Square Enix working on ‘firming’ release date for Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth
Producer Yoshinori Kitase announced this short update via the official Final Fantasy 7 Twitter account. In it, he said development was “on track,” and said in bold that the team was working towards an exact release date.
“Development is progressing as planned,” Kitase said. “We are currently working on finalizing the game’s release date.”

However, Square Enix didn’t provide any further updates on the PS5 exclusive after that announcement, instead promoting Final Fantasy 16, which launches on June 22nd. Creative director Tetsuya Nomura previously said during its initial announcement that development was “progressing rapidly” and that work on the third remake had already begun.
