How do you stand out in such a crowded indie market? That’s what I asked myself eight years ago when I quit my day job to focus on “solo game development.”
For me, the answer was to blend two polar opposite genres that I love. Sam & Maxand Beat ’em up a la street of rageA real challenge! I call this new genre “punch and click”.
It really makes sense. Facing an inaccessible door? You can either use your brain and try to find a way to unlock it… or you can simply break it! Frustration from the illogical puzzles that plagued the point & click genre is no more.

After the first “quick” release (a quirky adventure Demetrios), This big project took six years to come to fruition.Released for the first time destroy the detective A few months ago on PC, this proved to be a real success.
Broke It’s visually inspired by early ’90s cartoons and is full of human animal characters, but with deep characters and an emotional plot to worry about. You might look at it and think “TaleSpin,” and that’s no coincidence. We had his Jymn Magon, who co-created popular licenses of the time such as “Ducktales” and “A Goofy Movie” edit the script.

That said, the story takes a darker turn. This universe is what I call “light cyberpunk” where the rich live inside a dome protected from ambient pollution while the poor have to make a living outside the dome. It takes place in a futuristic dystopia.
Despite the great player reviews, I’m still listening to feedback and making the original release (and the prologue that released on Xbox during the last Summerfest) even better. In particular, we made combat more dynamic and looked at what happens frame by frame to ensure tight gameplay with more predictable enemies.

The console adventure part uses direct control (instead of moving the cursor). We designed the game with controllers in mind from the beginning.
Broke is an adventure, spanning 15-20 hours in the first playthrough and replayability with multiple choices that really affect the outcome (you intention I want to see all 11 endings)
Additionally, Michael Kovach (“Hazbin Hotel,” “Lackadaisy”) and Bryan Olson (Max’s angry city 4) provides two main character lines for fully voiced acting that comes in 23,000 lines.

It already has a large fan community destroy the detective (Fan art can be submitted for inclusion in game extras). After the release, I was surprised to hear that people who don’t usually play point and click games had a lot of fun, so I think it’s the perfect game to start this genre. It comes with built-in hints (via ads you collect in-game) so you never get stuck forever in addition to multiple ways to solve puzzles plus a very user-friendly interface .
