Want to dive into a murder mystery game set in the 1920s and inhabited by well-dressed animals? You can do just that when Sir Winklebottom Investigates launches in July. For more information, I contacted the developer Cave Monsters and the only developer, Charlotte Sutherland, kindly answered the question.
What does Sir Winklebottom investigate?
Lord Winklebottom Investigates is a Murder mystery point-and-click adventure game set in the 1920s and featuring many gorgeous animals. It is under development from Cave Monsters and published by Cave Monsters.
Sutherland is the only developer of Cave Monsters. āThere were some people who helped me with social media and marketing,ā she explains. āI’ve worked with Acorn Games to help manage social media on Twitter and more, which allows me to focus on development.ā Some people while Gustavo Coutinho was working on the soundtrack. The students helped a bit with some background animations and cut out some VO files, but most of the work was done by Sutherland. āI’ve been mostly solo in music,ā she explains.
Sutherland tells us which part of the development she enjoyed the most. I enjoy coming up with stories … some of the more technical elements … they were more learning curves for me because I’m not a coder, but the actual art creation and themes All you have to do is lower and see everything. It was really fun to come back to life like that. We also get voice actors and record lines, “she continues. “If you play the game again with all your voice, the game will look richer and more lively. If you look at it that way, you’ll get more flesh, atmosphere and tone. All. To do that. It was really exciting to work with a voice actor. “
When will Sir Winklebottom Investigates be released?
There is currently a release date for LordWinklebottomInvestigates. It will be released for Xbox One and Xbox Series X | S on July 28th. The price is Ā£ 15.99 / $ 18.99 / ā¬ 18.99.
what happened?
In Sir Winklebottom’s investigation, we play as Sir Winklebottom himself ā a gentleman giraffe and a famous detective. He and his hippo friend Dr. Franple were invited to a lonely island just to discover that their old friend had been murdered on their arrival, leaving behind a mystery solved by Sir Winklebottom. ..
Placing animals instead of people in the game is a great idea. āIt all comes from a painting I drew after going to the zoo one day,ā explains Sutherland. “I usually go to the zoo on weekends. I thought it would be nice to draw a series of flashy animals as a picture. I made a giraffe that looks very Snoopy. He looks a little different and is pretty snooty. I see. I wanted to go with a slightly more interesting name than Sir Winklebottom’s final production … but it sounds a bit interesting, “continues Sutherland. “And I thought it would be an interesting little character. There wasn’t really an original plan to play him as a game. It was a kind of gorgeous animal painting. I did Dr. Franple as well. He was the second kind of gorgeous animal painting I did … it all really came from going to the zoo. What I thought would be useful for a point-and-click adventure-style narrative game. It was after I drew some pictures, “Sutherland adds. “At that time, I was also looking at things like Poirot and Sherlock Holmes, and I’ve read a lot of Agatha Christie in the past, so I mixed them with a bit of a flashy animal element.”
However, you need to be careful. “More than you can see is happening … it gets darker as the story progresses,” says Sutherland.
How do you play the Main Winkle Bottom Survey?
“I tried to challenge the classic point-and-click gameplay,” Sutherland tells us. Through it, you will be able to gather clues and draw your own conclusions or unravel other issues based on them. In addition to gathering clues and interviewing suspects, you will face some puzzles around the islands and homes. “Often you use the items you find, combine them to create new items, solve some puzzles and access them. New areas, and potentially using those items for suspects. , You can also advance the story and get them to provide new information, “Concludes Suspectland. Not surprisingly, Sir Winklebottom has endless pockets for the clues he has collected in his research.
What is the world like?
The Main Winkle Bottom Survey was set in the 1920s and is inspired by the British murder mystery. “I thought it might be themed, so I wanted to set it up in the past,” Sutherland added. Sutherland goes on to explain that Sherlock Holmes was one of the inspiration for the game. “I was also listening to the Paul Temple on a radio set later, so I tried to get the middle, which is still Art Deco in a way. It’s like getting the middle stage of the classic British murder mystery. Thing.”
In the game, Sir Winklebottom and Dr. Franple move to Barghest Island. Sutherland says it’s a small island with about 5-6 locations, including houses, basements, jetties, and caves. “Each has another bit. For example, there are other rooms in the house. Look. There are several areas on the island that may be locked in certain places, so if you want to move on. Because the island is an isolated island, there is only one manor house … they have a family basement, so you can explore here and there … the first pier you arrived at, the others you can explore from there. There are areas, lighthouses … but there are some areas that aren’t always immediately accessible. It’s about unlocking them throughout the story. “In addition to Sir Winklebottom Investigates’ eerie atmosphere,” when first arrived I’ve been trapped for a while because of the storm. ” Sutherland added, “It’s a little dark in the first place … I wanted to have a little theme of’And Then There Were None’, so I was trapped in a small island where no one could really escape. From there, a storm came.” So you’re stuck there with the suspect. “
Sutherland explains that she also “wants to get the feel of the 1920s” in music, and composer Gustavo “was actually a supporter of the kickstarter who provided the composition service.” .. “He sent me a really good sample reel, and it really got the atmosphere of the era I was looking for, and it also has an ominous atmosphere to it-it gives it a lot of personality. Add. When it all comes together with lighting and characters, it feels to me that it evokes that atmosphere of that old murder mystery in its ominous setting. “Sutherland’s purpose is” like a comedy. ” I was trying to mix in what I’m generally interested in. It’s a bit more deadpan, so I’m trying to incorporate that British humor in an ironic, deadpan way. . “
Does the news about Sir Winklebottom investigate the outcome?
We don’t have a track record for Lord Winklebottom Investigates yet, but Sutherland shows that the game’s sense of humor is reflected in the track record and gives us ideas on what to expect. “Achievements will include things that fit a little comical and quirky style, such as those that stand out in the test. What people found interesting, I tried incorporating the achievements into those elements.” Interesting “There are some optional achievements out there … depending on your choice, you may or may not be able to get all the achievements,” Sutherland added. A complete list of Winklebottom surveys may not yet be available, but one outcome is explained in advance. “If you eat a plant in front of a gardener (the gardener is a slug), you can eat it when the gardener isn’t there, but if you eat it in front of him, he makes a fuss. The result is Called GrandTheftFlora, we tried to get as much humor as possible, “Sutherland explains. Choice in several places. Wondering what these different choices mean for reproducibility, Sutherland explains: With so many endings, I’ve been working on it for a few years now, so more work is needed and it’s very difficult for me. I tried to keep it within the range I thought I could manage at that time. This is a straight line story, but there are some additional achievements you can get a second time if you miss it. “
Regarding her thoughts on creating an ideal achievement list, she said: Not just the standard achievement flow … I’ve been playing The Quarry lately. Anything that has impact-based achievements will add to the player’s experience. “
Sir Winklebottom seems to captivate us with his mysterious story, exploratory gameplay, and a sense of deadpan humor. Of all that it offers, what is Sutherland the most exciting for players to experience? “I hope they enjoy the story, have an anthropomorphic murder mystery style, and enjoy the animal side on behalf of the people. I know it’s a bit unusual and a bit quirky, so I hope people will enjoy it, its atmosphere and art style, and its theme. It’s a bit weird, “says Sutherland. “I wanted to play the game I wanted to play, so I want other people to enjoy what I made.”
