Death of Minecraft YouTuber Techno Blade (Opens in a new tab) Last week, after a year of fighting cancer, there was a flood of compliments from fellow streamers and Minecraft content creators. Shortly thereafter, Minecraft Studios Mojang also paid tribute to the streamers by making subtle but significant changes to the Minecraft Java Edition loading screen.
Mojang tweeted a homage to Technoblade on July 1st, when his death was first announced.
We’ve been trying to find the word, but all of us here at Minecraft are heartbroken by the loss of the technoblade. He made a lot of sense to our community and brought a lot of joy. He will be missed from the bottom of his heart. 🐷👑🗡️July 1, 2022
“We’ve been trying to find the word, but all of us here at Minecraft are heartbroken by the loss of the technoblade,” the studio writes. “He meant a lot to our community and brought a lot of joy. He will be truly missed.”
Shortly thereafter, Minecraft fans began to notice a more unique and lasting compliment to Technoblade on the Minecraft Java Edition loading page. The previously unexplained pig in the background of the scene wears a quiet and unmistakable crown nodding to the famous techno blade crown.With pig avatar YouTube (Opens in a new tab) icon.
It’s not clear at this point if the changes are permanent, but I think they are. The Minecraft community is very pleased with this change. So far, we’ve received over 237,000 likes on tweets about changes from our TechnoUpdates account.
