What a week! Not only were we treated to a Nintendo Direct a few days ago, but now we welcome a HUGE eShop update, with plenty of games to get us excited. Whether you’re into the rumbling, tumbling antics of Super Monkey Ball, a tower defence take on Metal Slug, or a journey into sky islands and card collecting in Moonstone Island, there’s bound to be something to get you excited, too. Let’s get into it.
Firstly, Moonstone Island is available now, bringing a pretty full plate along with it. Part deck-builder, part dungeon-crawler, and part life-sim, this one looks promising with its battles and exploration. And who doesn’t love taking time out from such battles to tend to your farm and decorate your house?
Meanwhile, Super Monkey Ball is back with Banana Rumble. This marks the first new console entry for the series in over a decade, bringing those cute ball-dwelling primates into our lives with all-new shenanigans. This outing brings a ton of custimization, with over 300 avatar options, not to mention more than 200 stages to conquer. This latest iteration hits the Switch in just a few days on June 25, but pre-orders are open now.
Metal Slug is also back, this time in tower-defence form. Take on the 2D pixelated challenge of crushing enemy bases with hundreds of characters on offer. We’re also working on our review for this one, so stay tuned for our thoughts!
As announced in the Nintendo Direct, there are a few new Switch Online entries to check out, too. Between a classic top-down Zelda outing to whet our appetite while we wait for Echoes of Wisdom, to the mature outings of Turok and Perfect Dark, there’s a lot on offer. - Moonstone Island – This creature-collecting, dungeon-crawling, deck-building life sim features 100 procedurally generated islands in the sky you’ll explore with the goal of becoming a world-renowned alchemist. Customize your character from over 300 options, roll out across more than 200 stages and launch past rivals with the new Spin Dash move. Play with friends* in an all-new co-op Adventure Mode and, for the first time in series history, 16 players can tilt their way to victory online! - METAL SLUG ATTACK RELOADED – METAL SLUG returns as a tower defense game with beginner-friendly controls and its signature 2D pixel look! Build the strongest team you can and crush enemy bases with a variety of strategies and hundreds of characters. The game also features the ANOTHER STORY mode (a unique collection of episodes that fans won’t want to miss), and a viewable GALLERY mode. Battle it out with players all over the world** and strive for the highest title! METAL SLUG ATTACK RELOADED is available now.
- Game Boy Advance – Nintendo Switch Online
- Play two of Link’s classic adventures, including one with online multiplayer, in The Legend of Zelda: A Link to the Past Four Swords, and suit up for a remake of Samus’s first adventure in Metroid: Zero Mission. Both games are available now for Nintendo Switch Online + Expansion Pack** members!
