Have you ever played a game and asked yourself why? Why does this exist? Why did someone make a game that doesn’t work on Switch? Why am I so angry while playing a game about repairing and building motorcycles? These weren’t the only questions running through my head as I was doing this, but there were many more. To be fair, I’m not a motorcycle person, nor am I into “realistic” simulations of different professions. But I can appreciate the existence of these games. Motorcycle Mechanic Simulator 2021 does not work on Switch and should be avoided. Seriously, I’ve never been more angry and bored at the same time than this title.
The whole point of Motorcycle Mechanic Simulator 2021 is to run a motorcycle repair shop. This simulator attempts to present the entire game as a “realistic” simulation, down to the intricate parts and pieces that make the bike run. We say realistic in quotes because while it is presented as a realistic simulation, the very poor controls make it nearly impossible to achieve almost anything. , was originally released on PC, and the mouse and keyboard scheme definitely helps with control. On Switch, this didn’t migrate well at all. Simple actions like moving a camera or moving an object you control (for example, lifting a wrench to get closer to a nut or bolt) move very slowly. It also doesn’t help that every move feels imprecise. It always feels like control is fighting you.
Motorcycle Mechanic Simulator 2021 is made even more confusing by other gameplay aspects. It takes a very long time to load. When I was playing the game, it was normal to have a 2-3 minute load time to get into a very basic bike repair. After that, it takes some time to return to the main menu. Once you’ve loaded up with a highly detailed, ultra-realistic garage and an ultra-precise motorcycle, this might be forgivable. These things are not here. It looks great at its best and loads into a garage close to a decent quality mobile game. The same goes for the bikes you work on. Still, the mere fact that you have to wait an insanely long time to load into the game and that it looks like it just adds a level of disappointment to the whole experience.
There are also clipping issues when testing the bike outside the garage. Not only does it run incredibly poorly, but the minute the motorcycle leaves the garage, it’s partially in the ground. This problem never goes away and gets worse the more you ride the bike. In one instance, after riding the bike for about 5 seconds, the ground glitched and then the game crashed. To be fair, that was the only instance when I tried to ride a motorcycle that it completely crashed. I had no time. Crashed when I reached the main menu screen. I feel like the whole package isn’t really optimized.
If Motorcycle Mechanic Simulator 2021 is not fighting with controls and crashes, there is a semi-relaxed game there, albeit a very slow moving game. A relaxed pace/tone is present when the parts are placed in the
Is there anything else positive about Motorcycle Mechanic Simulator 2021? Bike building has a relaxed tone to it and I’m sure someone who is completely into bikes and bike repair will find the title intriguing, but Motorcycle Mechanic Simulator 2021 is a very broken, optimal It’s an unencumbered experience that you can find a lot of fun in. I was incredibly mad at the controls that were constantly fighting me and the ridiculous loading times to get into those controls. There are many truly amazing experiences you can play on Nintendo Switch, but Motorcycle Mechanic Simulator 2021 isn’t one of them.
