You may remember Deneos’ adorable “Save Me Mr. Octopus.” From several years ago. The definitive Switch is now celebrating its two-year anniversary (time flies so fast), and the developers have included elements of Tako’s story for the first time today, with more to come. clarified what to expect. In this game, players play as a group of six heroes who embark on a journey to defeat the shadowy monsters that plague the land. In the process, truths are revealed and some difficult themes in the characters’ lives so far are shed light on. Deneos cites Eastward, CrossCode, Undertale and many other inspirations for the game, even going so far as to say that the game is “like Golden Sun meets Illusion of Gaia.” No pressure then?
Ocean of Secrets is still in development, and the team plans to launch a Kickstarter later this year with a Switch version of the game as one of their fundraising stretch goals.You can find the game’s Kickstarter page hereNote, however, that it’s not live yet.
Once again, Deneos is drawing inspiration from its GBA days, and today’s reveal trailer (above) gives a good look at the pixel art visuals you can expect from this trailer.The developer described the upcoming title as a “spiritual sequel to Save Me Mr Tako”, and we’re starting to understand why (the cute little octopus weapon is a bit of gifts).

As you can see from what we’ve seen so far, the game is certainly aesthetically pleasing and promises to tackle some difficult themes as it progresses – always powerful combos. We’ll be keeping an eye out for more information in the coming months, and hopefully the Switch stretch goal will be met soon.
