To coincide with the launch of PlayStation VR2, we’re releasing No Man’s Sky’s first major update of 2023. We call it Fractal (version 4.1). From the moment PlayStation told us about their new headset, we’ve wanted to support it from day one, and Fractal will fully support PS VR2 with new immersive controls and next-gen visuals. .

Our small team has always been very passionate about VR. No Man’s Sky is about exploration, and there’s nothing quite like exploring the infinite universe in his virtual reality. Our game has changed a lot since our small team introduced his VR support in 2019. The release of PS VR2 was the perfect time to do so.

Below is a quick list of some of the features new and old players can expect when they put on the headset.

  • Play the full length of No Man’s Sky in virtual reality without compromise for a new level of immersion.
  • Harnessing the power of the PlayStation 5, PS VR2 delivers a truly next-generation virtual reality experience, featuring reflections, terrain tessellation, increased draw distance, denser foliage, and ultra-high quality textures and refractions. increase.
  • PlayStation VR2-specific features include headset vibration, 3D audio technology and intelligent tracking, haptic feedback, and adaptive triggers from the PS VR2 Sense controller.
  • Switch between VR and regular gameplay. Continue from existing saves to revisit your favorite planets, bases and creatures in full virtual reality.
  • The HUD and user interface have been completely reworked for virtual reality, making every interaction available in-game feel natural and purpose-built. Including controlling multi-tool options via menus embedded in the in-world multi-tool. Browse quick menus and inventory via a personal wrist-mounted display.
  • Lift open the Starship’s cockpit, reach out and grab the controls to fly. Turn around and you’ll get a full 360-degree view of spaceships and vehicle cockpits in incredible detail only found in VR.
  • Special for many interactions such as hand grabbing plants and other collectibles, physically opening the cockpit of a ship or exocraft, directly piloting a spaceship with VR sticks/throttles, punching objects to damage them, etc. VR-only options are given.
  • With full head and hand tracking, interaction in virtual reality makes No Man’s Sky more intuitive, tactile and immersive than ever. Physically remove the multi-tool from your shoulder. Intuitively aim and fire at your target, or put it away and join the fight with your fists. Tap a button on your headset to toggle the analysis visor to scan and discover animals, plants and minerals.

But even if you don’t have a PS VR2 headset, the Fractal update brings new experiences and huge improvements for all players!

Fractal introduces a stunning new spacecraft, the Utopia Speeder, that allows travelers to skim the surface of planets at high speeds. It also launches a new expedition, Utopia, where players work together to rebuild an abandoned solar system for the enigmatic Utopia Foundation. Other expedition rewards include an exclusive new helmet (Fearsome Visor), a robotic drone companion, and more.

PlayStation players can now take advantage of the motion controls of the DualSense and DualShock 4 controllers, making exploring and scanning new discoveries more comfortable and precise than ever before.

Speaking of which, the Wonders Catalog showcases the most amazing discoveries, from the tallest mountains to the strangest creatures, and provides explorers with detailed records of their journeys, allowing players to compare their records with other travelers. increase.

We’ve also overhauled the game’s options system and introduced many new accessibility features to give players more control over how they play and experience the game.

2022 has been a very busy year for No Man’s Sky. Along with major free updates like Sentinel, Outlaws, Leviathan, Endurance and Waypoint, there were many more popular expeditions. An even bigger year is planned for 2023, and support for Fractal and PS VR2 is just the starting point.

Thank you again for your continued patronage. It means a lot to us. Our journey continues.
