It’s official! The Tomorrow Children: Phoenix Edition will be available in Europe and North America on September 6th and in Japan on September 7th. Just six years have passed since we shared our first expedition to Void and we can’t wait to come back. To celebrate, you can share lots of gameplay previews, including lots of new features, so check out the trailers below and keep reading the exclusive details.
Welcome return
If you are new to Tomorrow Children, welcome to Boyd! I’m Dylan Cuthbert, Game Director and Chief Executive Officer of Q-Games in Kyoto. We are proud to share today’s announcement with you. This includes numerous announcements for both beginner and veteran players. As a quick review, The Tomorrow Children: Phoenix Edition takes place in another future, following a failed experiment to unify the minds of all mankind. The resurrection of civilization is now in the hands of projection clones. An organism that can explore the depths of Void in search of preserved human survivors. That’s your turn …
If you’re a repeater, you’ve definitely noticed a lot of interesting things in today’s gameplay trailers. Since getting the IP last year, we’ve added a lot of content to The Tomorrow Children: Phoenix Edition to bring an exciting new experience. I would like to get things started by introducing one of my personal favorite additions. Monolith.
The gateway to the void
Early in development, we decided to add an island. It was an easy choice. Deciding which idea to implement … was more difficult. With so many promising concepts, we started looking for ways to diversify Void in the different ways we were thinking. Monolith has provided the perfect gateway to extend existing islands and transform them into new landscapes, creating a wide range of experiences that currently span more than 40 islands.
You can see that the monolith has an obelisk-like structure and is located in an island that emerges from the void. By creating and triggering new and mysterious ways for them to explore, you can discover even more unknown secrets on the island. Our design team actually went to the town to strengthen the existing islands, develop hidden areas and treasures to be discovered, and showcase previously undiscovered parts of the void. To make things even more interesting, certain monoliths can only be activated by multiple players, while others reveal branch paths and additional matryoshka dolls to be rescued. This addition takes island exploration to the next level.
Efforts to new heights
When it comes to taking things to the next level, we’ve also added a whole new way to traverse the landscape within Void. Grappling hooks do a light job to climb even on the tallest islands. In recent playtests, I’ve pushed its use to the limit and I’m really enjoying it. Grappling Void is a great way to avoid it and I can’t wait to hear what you think about it later this year.
Partition
Since the original game was removed from the store, I’ve been repeatedly asked to find a way to make The Tomorrow Children play offline. I fully understand the desire to preserve your city indefinitely, and today I can finally confirm that this has been made possible.
The Tomorrow Children: Phoenix Edition includes an offline single-player mode that uses Comrade AI to complement a solo expedition to Void. They repair buildings, carry resources, protect the town with turrets and missile launchers, and help the townspeople shake trees for apples when they are hungry. You can also prioritize what you want them to do at the police station. You can also request comrade AI while playing online, so if you need a hand when waiting for your friends to join the town, you can use AI teamwork to get things moving.
Another new addition is the party code system. This will allow players to work together online in one town, making it easier than ever to connect with friends. You can change the party code at any time to restrict or open access to selected people. The host can also ban false buddies.
Collaborate and transform your world
This is a brand new premium experience, packed with new features. We’ve also eliminated all dependencies on external servers to keep the game going. The Tomorrow Children: Phoenix Edition retails for $ 40 / € 40 / £ 35/4000 and offers a very special Early Bird Bonus for the first two weeks of launch. More details will be announced shortly.
