Hi, I’m Daniel, the creator of Inscryption. We are excited to finally bring the game to PlayStation players. To celebrate the announcement, I’d like to highlight some cool things waiting for you at Inscryption and the new PlayStation-specific features I’ve added just for you.
For those unfamiliar, Inscryption is a black card-based odyssey, some deck-building roguelikes, some escape game puzzles, and some psychological horrors. As the video game genre progresses, it’s a pretty powerful formula. What started out as a demonic deck builder will soon be quite different, but it’s up to you to discover its darkest secrets yourself.
The game first finds you trapped in the mercy of a sadistic stranger known only as Recy. He looks like just a pair of glowing eyes staring at you from the darkest depression in his cabin. Since I don’t remember how you got there, Leshy gives you the opportunity to play your way from his clutch with a unique set of cards.
As you learn and adapt to Lacy’s ever-changing rulebook, you’ll expand your deck of forest creature cards with drafts, surgery, and self-harm. Play big and threatening creatures like the powerful grizzly bears and rare mythical cards like the mantis god at the expense of creatures like squirrels and rabbits. Between games, you can gradually solve a series of puzzles that allow you to move around the cabin, empower yourself at the card table, and uncover deeper secrets.
But what about those exclusive features I mentioned earlier? Now, for beginners, your loyal companion, the Speaking Stoat card, plays that audio from your controller as if it were really in your hands! Second, in-game atmospheric lighting spills out of the controller, so if you’re playing in the dark, you’re one step closer to feeling like you’re in Leshy’s cabin. When adding sound and lighting to your PlayStation experience, it only makes sense to make sure that haptic feedback enhances all the horrifying actions … Why not use pliers to find out?
Thank you for taking the time to learn more about Inscryption. I can’t wait to finally play the game on the PlayStation. I hope you enjoy it as much as I made it. That said, Devolver Digital is not responsible for any curses caused.
