All of us in the studio have been huge sci-fi fans since we were kids. Some members are now in their 40s, which means they’ve been into sci-fi for decades at this point.

A lot has changed since some of these classic stories were first told. But even if it misses the mark on certain details, the central theme is just as evocative, and the story looks as current today as it did then. Judging by the response times to queries, it’s probably orders of magnitude more powerful than the original enterprise central computer.

We put this love of sci-fi into the game. scars abovea single-player third-person action-adventure. scar combines the rewarding sense of overcoming difficulties with a gripping sci-fi story. In fact, like the game’s core mechanics, the challenges themselves are woven into the narrative. Set in a mysterious alien world, players are stranded astronauts facing overwhelming odds who must use every resource at their disposal to survive. From crafting and using basic weapons and gadgets, to exploiting weaknesses in hostile fauna and flora, to opportunities found in the environment, the approach to combat is not only a design decision, but a storytelling It is also the decision of

when writing scars above, we wanted to capture that old school sci-fi feel. Partly because of our love for these stories, but also partly because of their continued relevance, thrills, and imagination building that stands the test of time. Hopefully we can add a twist and sneak a few surprises here and there.

in the meantime scar draws inspiration from many sources, too many to mention here. While coming up with the initial concept for this game, the ethical dilemmas of science and the dangers of unchecked technological progress in foundations, several genre-defining pieces came to mind. By Asimov. Clarke’s 2001: A Space Odyssey his mission-oriented AI with no ethical constraints. And perhaps surprisingly, all the weirdness and unpredictability that lies down the rabbit hole of Carol’s Alice’s Adventures in Wonderland has left its mark on Kate’s journey on a mysterious exoplanet.

When it comes to on-screen cult classics, the comparison to Alien is of course obvious. From Ellen Ripley’s wit to Xenomorph’s biological horror. A less obvious inspiration is a film that predated my time (I remember seeing him on TCM as a kid, it was an “old classic” from the time) – 1956’s Forbidden Planet You can find it from This was his first science fiction movie set. Completely on another planet far away from Earth. It also featured him, one of the first AI characters to have his own personality.

Finally, the idea of the protagonist being an explorer or scientist rather than a soldier or warrior comes from Star Trek, a source of inspiration for the entire studio. Actually, here’s some trivia. Kate is named after actress Kate Mulgrew – Captain Janeway from Star Trek Voyager.

Good sci-fi is timeless, and part of its essence is scars above, giving it a bit of its lasting quality. Of course, it’s a modern story in a modern story-driven action game that follows current trends in both gameplay and storytelling. Our plan was always to have some interaction between story and game mechanics. for example, scar The challenges reflect the scale between Kate and the terrifying biological monstrosities she must face. transformed into the gadgets and weapons you need to rely on as part of your .

When she’s not fighting, Kate is solving planetary mysteries and uncovering stories through research and scientific investigation. We made the gameplay mechanics part of the story (the “respawn” mechanic is also part of the story) and used the story to drive the design of the mechanics. This is a modern story told with modern gameplay. Inspired by the classics of science fiction and the timeless themes of human curiosity, exploration and science. An alien planet full of scary monsters, of course.

As you struggle to maintain your composure and accuracy in intense moments of terror, you can’t wait to use your knowledge, experimentation, tactical thinking, and sharp marksmanship skills to beat the odds. scars above Released today, February 28th For Xbox One and Xbox Series X|S.

Some weren’t meant to be discovered… A huge, mysterious alien structure has appeared in Earth’s orbit, stunning the whole world. Mankind named it “Metahedron”. A Sentient Contact Assessment and Response Team (SCAR) of scientists and engineers is dispatched to investigate. Things don’t go as planned and Metahedron takes the team across space to a mysterious exoplanet.
