According to the story, in 1730, Olivier Levasseur stood on the gallows awaiting execution on a lifelong charge of piracy. This included the theft of vast treasures from a Portuguese galleon, and he was later buried on the Seychelles island of Mahé. When asked for a final word, Levasseur removed the necklace from his neck, shouted “My treasure to those who understand!”, and threw it into the watching crowd. All of this prompted Rare to think new ways of how to deliver this mystery. For out-of-game puzzles, we believe that no puzzle is too difficult as long as the clues are provided fairly and at least a few players can crack the code and share it with the community. I won’t tell you anything, but be prepared to look for clues in unexpected places.
However, even the in-game voyage is a new undertaking.
“We call it a hunting voyage,” says Davis. “Ultimately, we are looking for one of the keys that can be used to unlock chests that have been added to all Gold Hoarders tents. is a different and unique Voyage, where you’ll be island-hopping to different locations in the game and treasure hunting across the map in search of these keys, but clearly, after five years, our eager Real players know these places like the back of their hand, and we really want them to feel that way, even if they haven’t played the game much, or recently joined the game. It still means you have a great chance to get them.”
The key to this is the new character H. Players have been solving in-game mysteries for years, but H speaks to them in a completely different way. “H sees things through a slightly different lens and explains things in a slightly different way,” Michi.
