Following some compelling leaks it was confirmed overnight that Steam Controller will launch on May 5 in Australia. The price is AU$149, with free shipping direct from Valve’s Australian warehouse.
It was already confirmed that the Steam Controller would release in Australia at the same time as the rest of the world. But it’s worth reiterating, because Steam Machine and Steam Frame still haven’t received release dates despite previously being tipped for an early 2026 release. The whole tech world is heaving due to the AI-induced component shortage, so nothing that was certain six months ago is certain now.

The Steam Controller has some pretty impressive features: the trackpads are a huge boon, but it also boasts TMR anti-drift analog sticks, four haptic motors, an advertised 35+ hours of battery life, and replaceable batteries. Based on Jacob’s review it’s a worthy piece of kitâespecially if you’re like me and love trackpadsâbut it’ll really depend on how you use a gamepad.
