Nintendo isn’t making a Switch Pro controller for PC gamers, but it’s kidding them. Anyway, I’m using a Switch Pro controller on my PC. Despite the Switch’s portability and Joy-Con’s versatility, the Pro is our preferred way to play. It’s a comfortable, moderately weighted controller with great battery life. Analog sticks are smooth. The face buttons are generously sized compared to the small ones on the joycons. If you already own one or are looking to buy one to replace your old Xbox 360 PC pad, it’s the perfect next PC controller is.

There are several ways to connect a Switch Pro controller to your PC, but Steam is the easiest. Play. However, if you want to play games outside of Steam, you’ll need the rest of this guide.

Here’s how to get your Nintendo Switch Pro controller to work with Steam or Windows via wired USB or Bluetooth. First, you’ll need a Nintendo Switch Pro controller (obviously) and a USB-C cable.

Switch Pro Controller: Steam Setup

How to use the Switch Pro Controller with Steam

Steam’s built-in controller configurator recognizes your Nintendo controller as soon as you plug it in and makes it easy to use it in your Steam games. It’s very easy to enable. First, connect your controller to your PC.

1. Open Steam and the Settings menu. [コントローラー]find the tab[一般的なコントローラー設定]Open You will see some configuration support options on the left. Naturally, we want to enable Switch Pro configuration support.

(opens in new tab)

If you like Pro controllers with flip-flop X/Y and A/B buttons, you can also enable the Nintendo button layout and make it the default for games. If this option is not enabled, the Pro Controller will be treated like an Xbox Controller. Right-click the game in your library and select[Steam コントローラ設定の編集]You can also change the controls from game to game by selecting and remapping each button.

3. While here[検出されたコントローラー]Take your time to personalize your Switch controller by making a selection below. If the controller is not properly registered, first[識別], then open the controller settings. You can change the name, the brightness of the home button light ring, and whether to use the gyro motion sensor.

From the controller settings page,[調整]You can also calibrate the controller’s gyro sensor and joystick by clicking , but you should calibrate the controller only if you experience latency issues. If it’s not broken, don’t fix it. Calibrating your controller before trying it in-game can actually cause latency issues. If you need to adjust your controller,[調整]place it on a flat surface, and follow the instructions on the button.

So if everything feels right, just save your profile and you’re good to go. Whenever using a controller, always connect it before opening Steam or a Steam game to prevent connection issues.

Switch Pro Controller: Non-Steam Games

Setting up your Switch Pro controller for non-Steam games

Add non-Steam games

Using Steam For real A simple way to make this controller work. If you’re not playing games via Steam, you can also use the Switch Pro controller, but it requires a little extra work, especially for Bluetooth connections. It’s been a long time since I’ve been in the middle of a long time This will speed up your work.

The easiest solution for non-Steam games is to actually bring Steam back. Steam has an “Add to Library” feature for Windows executables that allows you to add other programs to your Steam library before using the Steam overlay. This also works with the Nintendo Gamecube/Wii emulator Dolphin.

As you can see in the image above, Steam’s[ゲーム]Click the menu and[Steam 以外のゲームをライブラリに追加…]Select the option to view a list of programs on your PC. In most cases, this will allow you to add games and use your controller through Steam. Banzai!

Switch Pro Controller: Bluetooth

How to get Bluetooth working on your PC

Here’s what you need to start with:

software

8Bitdo Adapter: Easy Bluetooth and XInput Support

of $20 8Bitdo Bluetooth Adapter (opens in new tab) Helps avoid most of the tedious setup below by handling the Bluetooth connection When Run Windows comfortably on your controller without any additional software. This will make Windows see the controller like an Xbox gamepad, supporting button/joystick input and motion control (but not vibration). As a bonus, this works across multiple consoles and many other controllers including Switch Joy Cons, PS4 controllers, Wii remotes, and more.

If you don’t want to spend $20, follow the guide below.

The (Slightly) Hard Way: Windows Installation Guide

You only need to follow these steps if you are not using your Switch Pro Controller via Steam.

1. Connect your Switch Pro controller to your PC with a USB cable. You can use the USB-A to USB-C cable that came with your controller, or you can use a USB-C to USB-C cable if your PC has the appropriate ports. Within seconds, Windows 10 pops up with a new connected device, the Pro Controller.

You are the way to go! However, since this is a DirectInput controller (like most non-Xbox gamepads), some games won’t recognize the controller without additional software unless you’re using Steam’s built-in controller interface.

2. Download better joy (opens in new tab) and install it.

BetterJoy is open source software specifically built to use Switch Pro Controllers and Joycons as a generic XInput device (and to make it easy to use in emulators).

Unzip BetterJoy, open the folder created when unzipping and navigate to the drivers folder inside. Install the drivers and reboot as instructed. It’s almost an installation process. Now connect that controller.

The (Slightly) Hard Way: Windows Bluetooth Setup

Better Joy for Windows

You only need to follow these steps if you want to play wirelessly but choose not to purchase the 8Bitdo adapter for Bluetooth connectivity.

If you decide to connect via Bluetooth without using the 8Bitdo adapter method above, you will not be able to charge the controller while connected, so make sure your battery is full before you start .

First, press and hold the small circular button to the left of the USB-C port on the top of the controller to remove it from the switch. (If your Switch is in the same room as your PC, it’s best to turn it off to keep the Bluetooth environment clear, and you don’t want people to know it’s been 2 hours on your Switch. Easy You can reconnect it by connecting the Pro Controller to the switch via the cable.)

Open Windows Bluetooth settings, start searching for new devices, then press the same small button on top of the controller again. It will pair automatically after 30 seconds to 1 minute.

Using the Switch Pro Controller

BetterJoy works by reading DirectInput commands as XInput commands. This is what most modern games support. Now that it’s installed, your Switch Pro controller should behave like an Xbox 360 controller in most games. But first you have to launch Cemu (the name of the executable) his BetterJoy from the installation folder.

Once opened,[検索]Click the button. The Switch controller will be detected if paired via Bluetooth. Once connected,[マップ]You can click the button to change it as needed.

The game is now ready. Your controller will appear and should work in all games just like the Xbox controller.
