Terraria developers have a hard time letting go. After ten years of work, Terraria was due to get its final update in October 2020. (opens in new tab), it was already a “just one more” style return after Journey’s End’s renewal earlier that year. “Really, probably this time,” I wrote of the “final update” at the time.
Well, it’s not. Even after Journey’s End, Re-Logic’s developers didn’t feel completely left out.
Re-Logic is Labor of Love UpdateThis is the studio’s response to the fans who helped Terraria win the Steam award of the same name last year. Terraria developers recently tweeted a glimpse of the new features, including: gear loadout system For example, you can exchange building equipment with combat equipment.
Labor of Love contains what can best be described as an “unfinished business,” said Ted Murphy, head of business strategy at Re-Logic.
According to Murphy, the update wasn’t planned until last year’s fervent love of fans, but the Steam Awards said, “We felt particularly strong to see it in-game before development ended, and we were totally inspired by Game 2.” It’s based on the team’s idea of focus.”
“Some of these ideas have been around for a long time, some were born in the process, and we’ve had all the great suggestions from our fans. Sometimes we just know it’s the right thing to do. And I feel that the love update is one of the things I have to do before I feel completely comfortable moving forward.”
According to Murphy, the update name “Labor of Love” really drives them this time around, with more emphasis on fan-requested quality-of-life additions than previous Terraria patches. The devs posted several teases about what’s coming soon, including fan favorites town slimebut Murphy says he’s still keeping most of it a secret until launch day.
“Personally, I’m excited to see what people will build from the latest and most rumored world seed. The World Seed system will allow us to create a ‘game within a game’ and a brand new way to expand our adventures in Terraria.” We can now create a method,” he says. .
I wouldn’t call it the final update of Labor of Love Terraria at this point.I have learned my lesson—you will not fool this man, relogic! Murphy makes no such claims this time around.
“Our plan is to shift focus to a second project after Labor of Love, but who can really say what the future holds in the end,” he says. “What we do know is that we think Terraria is as lively and vibrant as it’s ever been, and we don’t think that’s going to stop anytime soon.
