Join the crew of the Endeavor to investigate a mysterious pathogen that is wreaking havoc on LV-895. Even Xenomorphs are not immune to this new threat. You and your fireteam must venture into uncharted lands, confront terrifying new foes, and discover the source of this mysterious new threat.
But that’s not all. If you want to get out of the hive alive, you’ll have to face your most formidable foe yet: the Queen of Pathogens.
This is the first time in AFE’s history that players have had the opportunity to defeat enemies of this level. We brought along two of her members of the Cold Iron Studios development team to get an inside look at Pathogen Queen and how she brought her to life.
First up is Senior Character Artist Ashley Stegon.
“When Pathogen, wanted to give players a different experience with the xenomorphs we know and love. What can we offer players who roam this lost ruin? , loves to put detail into the most terrifying creatures. The Germs Queen needed to look infected, but she’s not sick. Her asymmetrical design gives her an infected feel that pushes her story further, which creates more character. I also experimented a lot with how to texture her skin.When adding color to her skin I need to be more subtle to make it more interesting and realistic”
T.His appearance as the Pathogen Queen is only half the battle. I knew her mechanic had to be engaging and challenging. To talk more about it, he’s the system designer, Tony Marasco.
“Designing the pathogen queen battle was a really fun and rewarding experience. At first it seemed like this could be a problem, but I quickly realized that the more times I fought the Queen, the easier it became. This put us in a very good place to tweak the encounter mechanics and make everything feel right. There is an important mechanism. Watching her movements and being ready to fend off attacks is just as important as identifying her weaknesses. The most useful technique, however, is knowing when to run away. During battle, you should always keep an eye on the Queen. You definitely don’t want her to catch you off guard!”
Confronting the Queen of Pathogens is the most difficult the Endeavor crew has ever faced. Defeating her will require her cunning, strategy, and plenty of firepower.
