HyperX has a great new controller for those who want to stream and play games anywhere, on any platform with the new clutch.
I’ve written extensively in the past about hybrid controllers used by mobile gamers such as: Rotor Riot iOS game and drone controller. I found them appropriate most of the time, but nothing really stands out as the breakthrough ultra-portable and ultra-compatible controller I’ve been waiting for. That was up to now.Previously reviewed HyperX Charge Play Clutch GripServed as a great way to extend the battery life of mobile devices and make them easier to hold, but they didn’t have built-in buttons or sticks. Gamers, as we all know, need to use an on-screen controller. It slows down performance and consumes a lot of space on a small screen.
Thankfully, my prayer was answered with a new one HyperX Clutch wireless gaming controller. With the design and layout of the Xbox controller, and compatibility from USB-C to USB, 2.4Ghz wireless, and Bluetooth, the Clutch Wireless, which sells for $ 39.99, is a monolith of game splendor that goes too far. But as they say in the UK … does it do what is written on the can?

Unpacking and use
Out of the box HyperX Clutch Wireless Gaming Controller It’s amazing. It has a basic flat black finish and comes with a standard Xbox button layout. Whether you’re connecting via USB or via Bluetooth or 2.4GHz, the installation is quick and easy. I was able to install it on Windows and Android with minimal effort.
Once connected, I started Elden Ring We tested how well the clutch works in PVP and PVE, both wired and wireless. I also tried streaming on Geforce Now and the controller performed well, except for the lag the game received from the 5g signal dipping. Wired is still my preferred choice, and 2.4GHz and Bluetooth fall into a predictable order in terms of lag.
The feel of the controller is slightly off the full size Xbox standard, but it’s still very comfortable for my big hands and fits a little better in my backpack. The analog sticks are very well centered and the buttons are very solid and clicky so you can tap with confidence that the unit can withstand hours of hardcore games. The battery doesn’t need to be charged via a USB-C cable that can also be used to wire to a PC and will last for quite some time.
- Comfortable ergonomic design
- Multi-platform for cloud gaming
- Standard layout
- Built-in rechargeable battery
