Hello PlayStation country! He’s Edvin Edsö, the promotional producer for Resident Evil 4. I hope he enjoyed the game for two weeks. Today we are excited to announce the release of our fan-favorite mode, The Mercenaries. It is available as free DLC. Check out this trailer first.
The trailer gives us a glimpse into the fast-paced gameplay of The Mercenaries. The goal is to kill as many enemies as possible in a limited amount of time to get the highest possible score.
Leon starts each round with all weapons. You’ll need to quickly decide which weapon to use against which enemy to kill as many enemies as possible.
Don’t forget to record the remaining time. Killing enemies with melee attacks, headshots, and other methods, as well as tougher enemies like Chainsaw Man, gives extra time.
It’s also important to know when to get the green time orbs. This gives you even more time to kill additional enemies.
Did you notice the yellow diamond icon? This is the Mayhem mode meter. When Leon activates Mayhem Mode, basic abilities such as attack power and movement speed will be greatly increased for a certain period of time! Also, every time you earn extra points and defeat an enemy in Mayhem Mode, an extra second is added to your clock. The Mayhem Mode Meter builds up over time as you kill enemies and successfully dodge attacks. Earning a Mayhem Mode orb also increases the gauge by 1.
The first stage of The Mercenaries is the village at the start of the game. New stages and more content will be unlocked as you progress.
Like the main game, The Mercenaries supports DualSense controller functionality. The mode’s fast-paced gameplay allows players to switch weapons on the fly to fight multiple enemies, while haptic feedback and adaptive triggers provide even greater immersion.
Fighting The Mercenaries depends on your unique strategy, including weapon selection, positioning, and use of Mayhem Mode. Whether you’ve already completed Resident Evil 4 or just started, be sure to check out this powerful free DLC.
