All kids these days are obsessed with building bases, and while Valheim stands out for its Nordic flair, lens island (opens in new tab) Heading in the opposite direction, it offers players sunny shores and an impeccable vacation atmosphere. The Early Access game added Uncharted Waters, a sizable expansion that adds new biomes and some slick boats to explore them.
I’ve always thought the game leaves too much nautical potential on the table. Few things satisfy my sail-age fantasies like The Legend of Zelda: The Wind Waker or Pillars of Eternity: Dead Fire. Australian developer Flow Studio has come to fill an obvious need. I found myself fascinated by Len’s Island’s new sailing system.
The game procedurally generates archipelagos to explore. I think Flow Studios has hit on something special by allowing Wind Waker to recreate that feeling of discovery almost endlessly. The Uncharted Waters trailer mainly showcases the first Scooty Puff Junior Dinghy, but also gives us a glimpse of the upgrades since. china junk (opens in new tab).
These islands may contain ancient ruins to explore, making it look like an intriguing, multi-layered affair. The trailer shows off jumping puzzles and a giant portal. I love the feeling of leaving a bright sunny day behind and entering a mysterious, dusty room. Tomb also has monsters to fight with Lens Island’s new “skill-driven” combat system and character upgrades.
Uncharted Waters overhauls base construction and farming, including the addition of an NPC village called Bridgewater. As with your own structures, Bridgewater can be upgraded and nurtured, and his grateful NPCs will in turn trade with you.
