“My user calls. May I pass?”
Flynn Lives! Maybe. Weâll learn more about that in October. In the meantime, Big Fan (a Devolver Digital publishing label), and developer Bithell Games have announced that the isometric action game TRON: Catalyst is now available on Nintendo Switch.
Set within the TRON universe as depicted in 2010âs TRON: Legacy, Catalyst ââŠblends time-looping mechanics and dynamic combat with an engrossing storyline set in a decaying digital world abandoned by its creator.â
A decaying digital world helpfully illustrated in a new launch trailer.
As for the story:
Players take on the role of Exo, a courier whose life changes forever when a mysterious package explodes, granting Exo exceptional powers beyond a programâs normal function. When Exo finds herself in the reach of the Arq Gridâs ruthless âpeacekeepersâ, she must race to uncover the mysteries of the grid.
TRON: Catalyst offers players:
- Time-looping Action: Using the Glitchâs time-rewinding abilities to learn from her mistakes, Exo will need to navigate warring factions to unlock new paths and uncover the secrets of the Arq Gridâall while exploiting Glitches in the Arq Gridâs crumbling digitized world.
- Iconic TRON Combat: Battle legions of fearsome enemies on-foot in agile, dynamic combat and explore the Arq Grid on Light Cycle to complete missions, gaining crucial insights to help advance Exoâs quest. Master parrying and reflects Disc Kicks in battle, gain access to Data Shards and upgrade Exoâs code base for a variety of new abilities.
- A New TRON Storyline: Gain control over Exoâs mysterious abilities and uncover the unexplained âGlitchâ that threatens the Grid, all while evading the pursuit of Conn, a malevolent agent of Core. But escape will not be enoughâExo must break the loop.
- A World of Discovery: Roam rain-slicked streets and encounter the cityâs most powerful programs while exploring and battling through neon-accented environments. The Arq Grid is an original setting evocative of the cutting-edge digital future the TRON universe is known for, all backed by an electronic soundtrack that elevates TRON: Catalystâs worldbuilding with pulsing, soaring synths.
Rain-slicked streets? Inside a computer? Well, weâll see how thatâs explained.
TRON: Catalyst is available now in the Nintendo eShop for $29.99. For more information, visit bigfangames.com.
