TrueAchievements Game of the Year 2024 winners
We asked you to vote for your top five favorite Xbox games of the year, favorite Game Pass additions, favorite achievements, and more across 11 categories, and thousands of you got involved. Here are the TrueAchievements Game of the Year Awards 2024 winners:
TrueAchievements Game of the Year winner: Indiana Jones and the Great Circle
- Runner up: Senua’s Saga: Hellblade II
Despite launching late on in the year, the TrueAchievements Game of the Year 2024 winner is Indiana Jones and the Great Circle, which secured 13.2% of the 10,000 votes cast. With an early December release date, MachineGames’ latest didn’t have long to make an impression before our GOTY vote, but it’s gone down well with TrueAchievements members, and rightly so too. The Indy epic is a brilliant action-adventure game that really captures the look and feel of the early Indiana Jones movies. With its powerful and punchy combat, interesting puzzles, and gorgeous environments to explore, Indiana Jones and the Great Circle is a deserving winner.
In the runner-up spot, we have another action-adventure title: Senua’s Saga Hellblade II. The long-awaited sequel took second place with 4.8% of the vote.
TrueAchievements ID@Xbox Game of the Year winner: Brotato
The TrueAchievements ID@Xbox Game of the Year vote is always a close affair, and this year proved no exception, with Blobfish’s roguelite shoot-em-up Brotato just pipping Palworld to the punch. Looking at the results, Brotato saw 7.8% of the vote compared to 7.4% for Palword, so it was close, but the heavily armed potato took the crown here.
However, closer still was the battle between second and third — just a handful of votes secured the runner-up spot for Palworld over the excellent poker-themed roguelike Balatro.
TrueAchievements Best DLC pack of 2024: Elden Ring: Shadow of the Erdtree
- Runner up: Starfield: Shattered Space
FromSoftware finally gave those hungering for more Elden Ring a beefy expansion that far exceeded soulslike fans’ expectations. Shadow of the Erdtree offers a large new area to explore that’s jam-packed with new secrets to uncover and more hulking bosses to overcome. It’s every bit as brilliant as the original game (even if it didn’t add any new achievements) and a seriously impressive feat from developer FromSoftware, so it’s not too much of a surprise to see Shadow of the Erdtree pick up the win with 10.1% of the vote.
Following up in second place with 7.0% of the vote is Starfield’s Shattered Space, which took players to House Va’Ruun’s mysterious and hidden homeworld to investigate and take on a new cosmic threat.
TrueAchievements Best Game Pass addition of 2024: Indiana Jones and the Great Circle
- Runner up: Call of Duty: Black Ops 6
The winner of the TrueAchievements Game of the Year also picked up the win for best Game Pass addition of 2024. With a massive 16.3% of the vote, Indiana Jones and the Great Circle easily beat out Call of Duty: Black Ops 6 (5.2%) in second. Both games are excellent and provide great value to Game Pass subscribers, but it’s likely that the universal appeal of Indy saw Indiana Jones and the Great Circle pick up the win here.

We had a plethora of interesting achievements to unlock throughout 2024, and we asked you for your favorites across four different categories. As you can see, it’s a clean sweep for MachineGames’ Indiana Jones and the Great Circle.
The achievement TA members were most proud of unlocking was Indiana Jones and the Great Circle’s Archivist. This achievement requires you to collect all Journal notes in the game. There are hundreds of these notes scattered and hidden throughout each level, so if you’ve managed to collect them all and pop this achievement, then I doff my Indiana Jones-style fedora to you.
As for the achievement that was the most fun to unlock, players voted for Indiana Jones and the Great Circle’s Pest Control. This is a simple achievement that tasks you with hitting an enemy with a fly swatter — you don’t need to actually kill an enemy with the fly swatter; just give them a quick slap across the chops, and the achievement unlocks. TA members also voted Pest Control as the most original achievement of 2024.
Finally, we come to the achievement with the best name, which is Indiana Jones and the Great Circle’s It Belongs in a Museum. Fans of the Indiana Jones movies will, of course, recognize the name of this achievement as one of the more famous lines from Indiana Jones and the Last Crusade. To unlock this achievement, you need to find ten stelae hidden throughout Indiana Jones and the Great Circle’s Gizeh level and donate them all to the museum in Cairo.
Best TrueAchievements community event of 2024: 12 Days of Christmas
- Runner up: Genre Bingo 2024
For the third year in a row, you voted for 12 Days of Christmas as your favorite TrueAchievements community event. The 12 Days of Christmas event is a highlight for many as it really gets you thinking about what achievements you need to unlock to beat each daily challenge. 12 Days of Christmas was the runaway winner with 28.3% of the vote, followed by another excellent community event, Genre Bingo 2024, in second.

Favorite TA Playlist game of 2024: Cyberpunk 2077
Sticking with community events, you voted for Cyberpunk 2077 as your favorite TA Playlist game of 2024. Cyberpunk 2077 was selected for March’s TA Playlist, where we saw over 12,000 tracked TA members unlock achievements in the RPG throughout the month — a very strong showing, indeed!

TrueAchievements most anticipated game of 2025: Grand Theft Auto VI
Finally, we come to your most anticipated game of 2025, which is none other than Grand Theft Auto VI. Many are predicting that GTA 6 will smash the many records held by its predecessor and become one of the most successful games of all time — here’s hoping it doesn’t catch a delay and we’ll all be playing it later this year.
