For games, especially dynamic games Valheim, variations and differences are usually to be expected when moving from PC to console. Not so here, as Törnqvist shares with us about his journey to this new platform.
“We are all versions of Valheim They should be as similar to each other as possible, with no noticeable differences in gameplay,” he explains. “Added his controller layout more suitable for console players.”
While overall gameplay is consistent between PC and Xbox, the console version also incorporates a Fidelity Mode setting, allowing players to choose between quality and performance. Also, more balanced options are planned for future updates.
“The port to Xbox was very easy,” says Törnqvist. “The biggest challenge was making sure the network backend worked and finding the right balance of visual settings. Xbox Series X|S has different fidelity modes. Aiming for high fidelity at 30 FPS) and Performance (aiming for 60 FPS) We also aim to add a balanced mode in one of the upcoming patches (aiming for 40 FPS but not performance higher fidelity than
the world of Valheim It’s huge and full of danger, featuring golems, trolls, and many other dastardly creatures. If that’s not enough to make you want to keep your ax sharp, each biome is home to some pretty nasty bosses.

This means you can access your saved game files whether you’re playing on a Windows PC or console, play with friends, or random party members no matter what platform they’re playing on.
“All you need to join the community server is your password,” explains Törnqvist. “Joining friend servers is even easier. Just select them and join (unless your friends have password protected their servers). It has won numerous awards including Best Indie Game, Best Multiplayer Game, and Most Amazing Game. It has a good reputation and an active online community. Contributing to this growth was the introduction of the game to PC Game Pass a few months ago.
“We feel that we have had a very positive response. Valheim On PC Game Pass…more ways to play is good for everyone!” Trunkvist says. “Probably the biggest benefit is the increased number of players and the increased understanding of the network backend, especially the cross-play functionality, which is something Iron Gate has never done before. Kudos to you for providing such fine detail and providing the necessary support throughout development.”
