Valkyrie Elysium definitely has something of an old school feel to it. A series that began in 1999 with his turn-based JRPG Valkyrie Profile. Characters and certain elements within the environment are highlighted with thick black outlines that might work in a more visually adventurous title, but here Valkyrie and her party members are in the same world as the locale. It means that they don’t seem to belong to. It’s like bad CGI in a live action movie, it sticks out like a sore thumb and can be very uncomfortable to watch.
