Nintendo has always pushed ships aside with their hardware designs, but not so much as with their controllers. Yes, the NES and SNES controllers were fairly conventional by today’s standards (very innovative at the time), but in the years that followed, Big N’s controllers allowed you to shake blocks overhead and thick I tapped a kidney-shaped key. I’ve been putting buttoned bolt-ons on and off, and even trying to figure out how these are meant to be played with just two hands.
Our point is that when it comes to finding the best Nintendo controller, there are many to choose from. a lot Diverse Opinions – Trying to find the “best” feels like an impossible task.
With this in mind, Nintendo Life Towers came together to vote on which controller should be ours. favoriteWe present a list of all standard controllers in the company’s history (including the ‘Pro’ variant of recent consoles with non-industry-standard default controllers, but excluding the weird and unique models previously discussed here). ), we each voted. Our top 5 gets his 5 and the second favorite gets his 4.
Below are the results of our team research. If you disagree with our choices, there is a poll at the bottom of the page where you can ask for your opinion.
We’ll work our way up to the number one pick, but let’s start with a controller that wasn’t loved (at least in the form of votes) from Team NL…
10. Famicom (101), Virtual Boy, Wii Classic Controller
This trio at the bottom of the pack is a whopping zero point Being a member of the Nintendo Life team, he will be jointly last.
The NES 101 model was first released in 1993 and was all about emulating the look of the new SNES system. The two-tone gray and red coloring doesn’t look good. The dog-bone shape also works with later Nintendo 4-button controllers, but it doesn’t look good when you only have A and B options..fair Just in case, I don’t know if anyone on the team has actually used any of these.
No wonder the Virtual Boy controller is down the mountain. Will this console one day have a rosy renaissance in the form of “The Virtual Boy Is Nintendo’s Most Underrated Console”? increase. That Wario Land game was awesome though!
When it comes to the Wii Classic Controller, it’s the controller most people forget. Be careful not to confuse it with the Classic Controller Pro (more on that below). This oval design is made for Virtual Console games, but the analog sticks are so close together that the mere thought of playing with it makes your hands cramp. A few hours.
9. Wii Classic Controller Pro
Only one point ahead is the Wii Classic Controller Pro.
Released in 2009, this radical upgrade was designed to feel much more like a GameCube model than the SNES-like designs that preceded it. It may not live up to the innovations we’ve seen elsewhere on the Wii, but it’s certainly a step in the right direction as far as comfort is concerned.
8. Wii U Gamepad
Really innovative and really solid.
The Wii U GamePad only scored 3 points. Touchscreen controllers have brought a lot of fun to certain games like Nintendo Land, but their bulky design and the ultimate lack of software to make good use of them have always made them appear at the bottom end of this list. It meant high quality.
Yes, it paved the way for one of Nintendo’s best-selling consoles of all time, but when it came to the actual controller design, this didn’t top anyone’s list.
