Recently, I was able to see a full 20 minute quest walkthrough from Skywind, a mod that recreates Morrowind in Skyrim. Earlier this year we saw his four hours of Skyblivion, a mod that recreates Oblivion in Skyrim due in 2025. But did you know about Skygerfall?
As its name suggests, Skygerfall is a retelling of Daggerfall, the second mainline Elder Scrolls RPG originally released in 1996. Unlike mods that bring back the game more recently, it was completed earlier this year with a small patch to fix some meshes. Up to version 1.10.
Skygerfall is a more modest mod than Skywind and Skyblivion. It’s not intended to incorporate all of Daggerfall into Skyrim’s engine, just the main questline. On behalf of Emperor Uriel Septim VII, he traversed the Iliac Bay for twenty hours, visiting its most vexing dungeons. Elder He is steeped in the scroll’s deep lore, where you can meet characters like Sheogorath and Mannimarco, King of Worms.
But the main questline isn’t the only reason to play Daggerfall. That includes joining guilds, carrying out Dark Brotherhood assassinations, becoming a vampire, finding vampire cures, working in temples and witch covens, meeting all his Daedric Princes, and more. And usually do side quests throughout Tamriel. If that’s the experience you’re looking for, Daggerfall Unity is free and moddable. Today we have a guide to make the best of his Daggerfall experience.
Skygerfall is like an alternate starting mod, like giving the player character a backstory before starting another playthrough. It happens to be set 200 years before Skyrim begins, and when it ends, loot and spells he can bring from Skygerfall to Skyrim. This includes spells like Levitate, Unlock, Mark, and Recall that the series abandoned midway through.
To play Skygerfall you need to download one of the versions skyrim special edition (opens in new tab) again skyrim vanilla (opens in new tab)Disable already installed alternative start mods or get addons file section (opens in new tab) For compatibility with Live Another Life or Realm of Lorkhan. There’s also an optional add-on that replaces the map menu with what looks like the paper-style maps of High Rock and Hammerfell included in Daggerfall.
Also, Skygerfall’s armor is incompatible, so you’ll need to disable body replacement mods. Even when all is done, there may be some minor conflicts if the mod is heavily loaded. When wearing certain boots, her shins seem to be invisible, and when she wields her battle staff, she floats behind her.
Another thing you’ll probably need is Daggerfall main quest walkthrough (opens in new tab)Skygerfall is so faithful to the original that if you get stuck, you can always rely on Daggerfall’s walkthrough to get you through empty rooms and dungeons full of random grizzly bears. Although you may also want to refresh your memory of Skyrim console commands.
Luckily, getting quests can quickly transport you to places you’ve never been before, so you don’t have to jog two states that can take about 70 hours to traverse in Daggerfall.
Anyone working on Skyrena?
