Did you know that you can already speak fluent machine language? Human language now turns out to be computer programming code. Nvidia outspoken CEO Jensen Huang says so.
Leaving aside the interesting story from Nvidia’s recent earnings call (opens in new tab), Huang elaborated on the impact of modern language-based AI models, including ChatGPT. “We now have the world realizing that human language can be a perfectly good computer programming language,” said Huang.
Huang explains how ChatGPT can intentionally perform tasks it was never trained to do. “It can prompt in human language, but it outputs Python, it outputs Cobalt, which is a language most people don’t remember. It outputs Python for Blender, a 3D program. So a program that creates a program for another program,” he says.
The result is a new era in which anyone can program computers. “We democratized computer programming for just about anyone who can describe in human terms the specific task to be performed,” says Huang. “This new computing platform, this new computer, can take whatever prompt or human-described request and convert it directly into a series of instructions to process, or wait for it to decide whether to process it or not. .It or not.

All of this leads to some very interesting interpretations of the impact of AI. Much of the speculation usually surrounds questions of AI’s senses and the “if” and “when” of how new creations might get out of control.
Huang’s insight, however, comes from the opposite direction. According to Huang, an AI language model like ChatGPT would do the exact opposite of AI taking over humanity. Instead, it’s the tool you need to take full control of your machine.
Of course, both perspectives can hold important truths. Exactly how it unfolds could be the defining question of our time.
