Youtube video maker Dunkey, real name Jason Gastrow, announced that he and his wife Leah are launching an independent video game publishing company, Big Mode. However, some developers and critics are not sold by the YouTuber’s new venture.
Revealing through his popular YouTube channel videogamedunkey, Dunkey has announced that he wants to head the game publisher, which will also act as his own “mark of approval.” As Dunkey explains, he’s spent his YouTube career showcasing many of his favorite indie games, and now wants to be part of the development process. Reactions to Dunkey’s BigMode Announcement
But the reaction to BigMode’s announcement wasn’t entirely positive. Mixolumia developer Dave Hoffman has criticized YouTubers for equating playing games with being able to publish them. Tweet: “Lol Dunkey started the publisher with the mentality of ‘I’ve played a lot of games, so I know they’re good and bad, so I’ll only publish the good ones.'”

However, the reaction to BigMode’s announcement was not entirely negative. Celeste developer Noel Berry says that if Dunkey wants to “indie throw money at his game,” even if the YouTuber could learn some hard lessons along the way, this isn’t going to work. said it was positive.
